How to Delete Your Account

PDF CamScanner respects your right to data privacy and control over your personal information. We've made the account deletion process simple and straightforward.

Option 1: Delete Account Through the App

1. Open the PDF CamScanner app
2. Navigate to "Settings" (tap the menu icon in the top-left corner)
3. Scroll down and tap on "Account"
4. Select "Delete Account" at the bottom of the screen
5. Read the information about account deletion carefully
6. Enter your password or authenticate when prompted for security verification
7. Confirm deletion by tapping "Delete My Account Permanently"
8. Your account and authentication data will be scheduled for deletion

Option 2: Contact Support

If you're unable to access your account or experiencing issues with the in-app deletion process:

1. Send an email to [email protected]
2. Include the subject line "PDF CamScanner Account Deletion Request"
3. Provide the email address associated with your Google/Apple account (if you signed in)
4. Our support team will verify your identity and process your deletion request within 7 business days

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

When you delete your account:

• Your Google/Apple account connection will be removed from our system
• Your authentication data and account information will be permanently deleted
• Your premium subscription will be canceled (if applicable)
• You will lose access to premium features

Important: Your Scanned Documents

CRITICAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DOCUMENTS:

• All your scanned documents are stored LOCALLY on your device with encryption (SQLCipher)
• Deleting your account does NOT automatically delete your scanned documents
• Your scanned documents will remain on your device until you uninstall the app
• To completely remove all scanned documents, you must uninstall the PDF CamScanner app after deleting your account

Data Retention After Account Deletion

• Immediate Deletion: Your account information and authentication data are deleted immediately from active servers
• Server Backups: Complete removal from all backups may take up to 30 days
• Local Device Data: All scanned documents stored locally on your device will remain until you uninstall the app
• Legal Requirements: We may retain certain information if required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as:
  • Records of subscription transactions for financial reporting
  • Information needed for legal proceedings
  • Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics

Reinstating a Deleted Account

Once your account is deleted, it cannot be reinstated. If you wish to use PDF CamScanner again in the future, you'll need to create a new account by signing in with Google or Apple again.

Before You Delete - IMPORTANT Steps

We strongly recommend you take these steps BEFORE deleting your account:

1. Export Your Important Documents

• Export as PDF: Open each important document and tap "Export" or "Share" to save PDF copies to your device storage or cloud storage
• Share to Cloud: Use the share function to upload important documents to Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive
• Email Yourself: Send critical documents to your email for safekeeping
• Save to Gallery: Export individual pages as images if needed

2. Cancel Your Subscription (If Applicable)

If you have an active premium subscription:

• Cancel your subscription through Google Play Store or Apple App Store settings BEFORE deleting your account
• This ensures no future charges
• Deleting your account does NOT automatically issue refunds for active subscriptions

3. Verify Your Backups

• Double-check that all important documents have been exported successfully
• Verify that cloud uploads are complete
• Make sure you can access exported PDFs from other devices or storage locations

Complete Data Removal

To completely remove all data from your device:

1. Delete your account using Option 1 or Option 2 above
2. Export all important scanned documents (PDFs and images)
3. Verify that all exports are complete and accessible
4. Uninstall the PDF CamScanner app from your device
5. This will permanently delete all locally stored scanned documents
6. WARNING: This action cannot be undone. Make sure you have exported everything you need.

Additional Notes

• Deleting your account will not automatically issue refunds for any active subscriptions or purchases
• PDFs you've shared with others (via email, messaging apps, or other methods) will remain accessible to those recipients
• If you've signed in with Google or Apple, the connection to your account will be removed, but you'll need to manage privacy settings on those platforms separately
• PDFs you've saved to external storage (Google Drive, device downloads folder, etc.) will not be affected by account deletion

Alternatives to Account Deletion

Consider these alternatives before permanently deleting your account:

• Pause Usage: Simply stop using the app without deleting your account - your data remains safe on your device
• Cancel Subscription: If you're concerned about charges, cancel your subscription without deleting your account
• Export and Archive: Export all your documents and keep your account for future use
• Delete Individual Documents: Delete specific documents instead of your entire account

• All scanned documents are encrypted on your device using SQLCipher
• We never upload or access your scanned documents on our servers
• Your documents remain private and under your control at all times
• Local processing means no internet is required for scanning and PDF creation
