We respect your right to delete your account and data. This page explains how to delete your Simple Invoice account, what data will be deleted, and what you should do before deletion.

Before You Delete: Backup Your Data
⚠️ MANDATORY: Export Your Critical Data
You MUST backup your data before deleting your account!
How to backup:
- Export All Invoices:
- Open each invoice you want to keep
- Tap "Export as PDF" or "Share"
- Save to your device, Google Drive, or email to yourself
- Ensure PDFs are readable and complete
- Save Important Records:
- Take screenshots of your business profile
- Note down customer contact information
- Record product catalog details
- Save bank account details separately
- Legal/Tax Records:
- Export invoices from the current financial year
- Keep copies for GST filing and tax purposes
- Maintain records as required by law (usually 6 years)
What Data Will Be Deleted
1. Local Data (Immediately Deleted)
When you delete your account or uninstall the app, the following local data will be permanently deleted:
Business Data:
- Complete business profile (name, address, GSTIN, PAN)
- Bank account details
- Business logo
- All business settings and preferences
Invoice Data:
- All invoice records (draft, sent, paid, overdue)
- Invoice numbers, dates, and amounts
- Tax calculations and GST breakdowns
- Payment terms and notes
- Generated PDF files
Customer Information:
- All customer records
- Customer names, addresses, and contact details
- Customer GSTIN and PAN information
- Billing addresses
Product/Service Catalog:
- All product and service records
- HSN and SAC codes
- Prices and tax rates
- Descriptions and units
2. Cloud Data (Deleted Within 30 Days)
If you used Google Sign-In, the following cloud data will be deleted:
- Firebase authentication data (email, User ID)
- Google Sign-In association
- User account record
3. Analytics Data (Retained, Anonymized)
Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to 14 months (Firebase default). This data:
- Does NOT contain personal information
- Does NOT contain business data or invoices
- Cannot be linked back to you
- Is used only for app improvement
What Data We CANNOT Delete
We CANNOT delete:
- Invoices you sent to customers: Customers may have copies of invoices you emailed or shared
- Legal/tax records: You are responsible for maintaining GST records as required by law
- Third-party data: Data stored by Google (Gmail, Drive) if you shared invoices there
- Device backups: If your device backed up to iCloud or Google Drive, that data persists until you delete the backup
How to Delete Your Account
You have two options to delete your account:
Option 1: Delete In-App (Recommended)
Step-by-step instructions:
- Backup your data first (see section above)
- Open the Simple Invoice app
- Go to Settings or Profile
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
- Read the warning message carefully
- Confirm you have backed up all important data
- Tap "I understand, delete my account"
- Enter your password or confirm with biometrics (if required)
- Tap "Delete Permanently"
- You will be logged out and all local data will be deleted
Note: This process is immediate and cannot be undone.
Option 2: Delete by Email
If you cannot access the app, email us:

Include in your email:
- Your full name
- Email address associated with your account
- Google account email (if you used Google Sign-In)
- Confirmation that you have backed up all data
- Statement: "I request deletion of my Simple Invoice account and all associated data"
Processing time: We will process email deletion requests within 30 days.
Note: We can only delete cloud data (authentication). Local data on your device must be deleted by uninstalling the app.
After Deletion
What Happens Next:
- You will be immediately logged out of the app
- All local data is deleted from your device
- You can no longer access your invoices, customers, or products
- Your Google Sign-In association is removed
- Firebase authentication data is deleted within 30 days
- You cannot recover your account or data
Can I Recreate My Account?
Yes, you can reinstall the app and create a new account. However:
- You will start with a completely fresh account
- All previous data will be lost forever
- You must re-enter business profile, customers, and products
- Previous invoices are NOT recoverable
Legal and Tax Considerations
⚠️ Important: GST Record Keeping
Legal Requirement: Under the GST Act, 2017, you are required to maintain invoice records for a certain period (typically 6 years from the end of the financial year).
Before deleting your account:
- Export ALL invoices from the past 6 years (or as required)
- Keep PDF copies in a safe location (cloud storage, external drive)
- Ensure you can access these records for GST audits or inquiries
- Consider consulting a Chartered Accountant (CA) before deleting tax records
We are NOT responsible for any penalties or legal issues arising from missing tax records after account deletion.
Tax Authority Requests
Important notes:
- We do NOT store your invoices or business data on our servers
- We CANNOT provide your invoice records to tax authorities
- You are responsible for maintaining your own records
- Tax authorities may request records even after account deletion
Data Retention and Legal Compliance
What We Retain (Minimal)
After account deletion, we may retain:
- Deletion request record: For compliance and legal purposes (90 days)
- Anonymous analytics: Anonymized usage data (up to 14 months)
- Crash reports: Error logs without personal data (90 days)
- Legal records: If required by law or ongoing legal matters
What We Do NOT Retain
We do NOT retain:
- Your invoices or invoice data
- Customer information or records
- Product catalog or pricing
- Business profile or GSTIN/PAN
- Bank account details
Reason: This data was stored locally on your device only, never on our servers.
Alternatives to Deletion
If you're considering deleting your account, consider these alternatives:
1. Just Stop Using the App
- Simply stop opening the app
- Your data remains on your device
- You can return anytime
- No data is deleted
2. Export Data and Keep It
- Export all invoices as PDFs
- Store them in Google Drive, Dropbox, or email
- Then delete the app if you want
- You'll have access to your historical records
3. Archive Old Data
- Export and save old invoices
- Delete old customers/products in-app
- Keep using the app with fresh data

Q: How long does account deletion take?
A: In-app deletion is immediate. Email requests are processed within 30 days. Local data is deleted immediately; cloud data (authentication) is deleted within 30 days.
Q: Can I recover my data after deletion?
A: No. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We cannot recover your data.
Q: What if I have unpaid invoices?
A: Export copies before deletion. Your customers may still have the invoices you sent them. Consider collecting payments before deleting your account.
Q: Will deleting my account delete invoices I already sent to customers?
A: No. Customers who received invoices via email or other methods will still have their copies. You're only deleting your local copy.
Q: Do I need to delete my account before uninstalling the app?
A: No, but it's recommended if you used Google Sign-In. Uninstalling deletes local data; account deletion also removes cloud authentication data.
Q: What happens to my Google Sign-In?
A: The association between your Google account and Simple Invoice is removed. Your Google account itself is not affected.
Q: Can I delete just some data (e.g., one customer)?
A: Yes! You can delete individual invoices, customers, or products within the app without deleting your entire account.
Q: Is my GSTIN or PAN shared before deletion?
A: No. Your GSTIN, PAN, and business data were stored locally only and were never uploaded to our servers.
Q: What if I'm under investigation or audit?
A: Do NOT delete your account or data if you're under tax investigation or audit. Consult with your Chartered Accountant (CA) or legal advisor first.
