GlowSnitch is a sun exposure monitoring application developed by BinaryScript Private Limited ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the GlowSnitch mobile application (the "App").
Your Data Stays On Your Device
All your data is stored locally on your device. We do not have servers that store your personal information. No user accounts or login credentials are required. Your data remains private and under your control at all times.
1. Information We Collect
GlowSnitch collects and stores the following data locally on your device only. None of this data is transmitted to our servers.
- Skin type (Fitzpatrick scale selection)
- Home location coordinates (latitude and longitude)
- Daily sun exposure duration (minutes)
- Sunscreen application timestamps
- Step count data (via activity recognition)
- Ambient light sensor readings
- App settings: notification frequency, quiet hours, sensitivity level, sarcasm toggle
- Onboarding responses: sleep quality, stress level, mood
Important: This data is stored only on your device and is NOT transmitted to our servers or any third party, except GPS coordinates sent to UV index APIs as described below.
2. How We Use Your Information
All data is used locally on your device to:
- Detect when you are outdoors and exposed to sunlight
- Provide SPF and sunscreen recommendations based on your skin type and current UV index
- Track your cumulative daily sun exposure
- Send timely notifications reminding you to apply or reapply sunscreen
- Customize the app experience based on your preferences and settings
3. Third-Party Services
To provide UV index data, GlowSnitch sends your GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude only) to the following external APIs:
3.1 Open-Meteo

- Data sent: latitude and longitude

- Data sent: latitude and longitude

No Other Third-Party Services: GlowSnitch does not use analytics services, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or any other third-party data collection tools.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database
- No data is stored in the cloud or on remote servers
- No user accounts or login credentials are required
- The only network transmissions are GPS coordinates sent to the UV index APIs described above
- Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data permanently
Note: Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling the app or clearing app data will permanently delete all your information. We cannot recover lost data.
5. Permissions
GlowSnitch requests the following device permissions:
- Location (fine and coarse): To determine your position for UV index lookups and outdoor detection
- Background location: To continue monitoring sun exposure when the app is not in the foreground. A foreground service checks conditions approximately every 15 minutes
- Activity recognition: To detect steps and determine whether you are moving outdoors
- Notifications: To send sunscreen reminders and exposure alerts
- Internet: To fetch UV index data from external APIs
- Foreground service: To run background sun exposure monitoring
- Wake lock: To ensure timely periodic checks while the device is idle
- Light sensor: To help determine whether you are indoors or outdoors based on ambient light levels
6. Children's Privacy
GlowSnitch is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, please contact us at the email below.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Medical Disclaimer
GlowSnitch is a wellness tool and is NOT a medical device. UV index readings, sun exposure estimates, and SPF recommendations are approximations and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for sun protection decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for advice regarding skin health and sun exposure.
