Terms of Service

WA Transcriber

Effective date: 20 August 2026
Last updated: 20 August 2026

These terms govern your use of WA Transcriber (the "App"), an Android application published on Google Play as com.binaryscript.watranscriber by Binaryscript Private Limited, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India ("we", "us").

By installing or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What the App does

The App converts audio you share with it into text, using a speech-recognition engine that runs entirely on your device. It also lets you play that audio, keeps a local history of transcripts, and can translate speech in other languages into English.

The App requires Android 8.0 (API level 26) or later, and a one-time download of a speech model over the internet. After that, transcription works offline.

2. Accuracy — please read this one

Automatic speech recognition is imperfect and always will be. Accuracy varies with recording quality, background noise, accent, language, vocabulary and which speech model you have selected. The App will sometimes mis-transcribe words, omit them, or produce text that reads plausibly but is wrong.

Do not rely on a transcript where accuracy matters — including medical, legal, financial, employment or safety-critical decisions — without listening to the original audio yourself. The App provides a player for exactly that purpose. Transcripts are not certified transcriptions and are not suitable for evidentiary use.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the audio you put into the App. By using it you confirm that:

  • You have the right to possess and process that audio.
  • Doing so does not breach any law that applies to you, including laws on the recording and interception of communications, which in many places require the consent of the people recorded.
  • You will not use the App to process audio obtained without permission, or to infringe anyone's privacy or intellectual property.

We provide a tool; what you feed it is your decision and your responsibility.

4. Free use and paid plans
4.1 Free allowance

The App includes a limited number of free transcriptions — five at the time of writing. We may change this number, including for existing installations, through remote configuration.

4.2 Paid plans

Beyond the free allowance, transcription requires a purchase. We offer monthly and yearly subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App in your local currency before you buy, and are set in Google Play.

4.3 Billing, renewal and cancellation

All purchases are processed by Google Play, not by us. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in Google Play, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

4.4 Free trials

Where a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends, in accordance with Google Play's terms.

4.5 Refunds

All purchases are final and non-refundable, including for partially used billing periods and early cancellation.

We do not issue refunds, and cannot, because we never receive your payment — Google Play does. Any refund is granted at Google's sole discretion under Google Play's refund policy. We can raise a request on your behalf if you write to [email protected], but the decision is Google's alone. Nothing here limits any statutory refund or cancellation right you have under applicable consumer law.

Full details are set out in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

4.6 Entitlement checks

The App verifies your purchase with Google Play periodically. If Google Play reports that a purchase is no longer active — because it expired, was cancelled, was refunded or was charged back — paid features stop. If Google Play cannot be reached, your purchase continues to work for a grace period before the App falls back to the free tier.

5. Availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the App. Remote configuration allows us to require an update before the App will continue to function, which we use when an older version is broken or unsafe. Speech models are downloaded from a third-party host and we do not guarantee its availability.

6. Intellectual property

The App and its artwork are owned by Binaryscript Private Limited. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it, and may not decompile, resell or redistribute it except where the law says otherwise.

Transcripts you produce are yours. We claim no rights over them, and could not use them in any case, as they never leave your device.

The App includes third-party open-source software, notably whisper.cpp and ggml (MIT licence), used under their respective licences. Speech models are published by their own authors under their own terms.

7. No affiliation with WhatsApp

WA Transcriber is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WA" is used as an abbreviation to describe interoperability, not to indicate any association. WhatsApp is a trademark of its respective owner. The App has no access to any messaging app; it reads only the audio file you explicitly share with it.

8. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties
10. Limitation of liability
11. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and, where they affect what you pay or what you get, announced in the App's release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept it.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend access if you breach these terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as required by law or by Google Play's policies.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Raipur, Chhattisgarh have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live — that right is unaffected.
